The Vancouver Island Youth Dance Theatre Association (VIYDTA), also known as Dancestreams, is a non-profit registered charity entering its 41st year of operation. For decades, the organization has been a cornerstone of the Vancouver Island dance community, with a strong legacy of fostering youth dancers, supporting local dance schools, and engaging audiences through accessible, high-quality dance experiences.
Dancestreams performances provide low-barrier/low-cost access to pre-professional level dance art to people of all ages, origins, and locations. Dancestreams performs at schools and in rural communities regularly serving Vancouver Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands.
Dancestreams is dedicated to bringing together dancers from diverse backgrounds, to bridge the gap between amateur and professional dance, while gaining exposure to professional choreographers and their works, as well as sharing the opportunity to work with others who experience the same passion for the art form of dance. These dancers become role models, demonstrating through the joy of dance, that dedication can bring a sense of accomplishment.
We acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
